4 Parents with Teens
What matters to them now?
Everyone knows that being a teen is a combination of great excitement and great torture!
Teens develop at an accelerated pace, hormones rage, their bodies morph, emotions run awry and all while we expect them to stop acting like children, act more like adults and begin taking more and more responsibility for their lives. It is a turbulent time even under the best of circumstances and every generation has looked down at teens as they climb their way to adulthood and wondered if they'd make it.
Life is much  more complex than it used to be. This generation has been raised differently than previous generations for many reasons, like computers, internet and constant ability to be entertained. In many ways they have too many options, not enough structure and guidance, too little community involvement. Too many options, and at the same time, too few.
Guiding teens through these years is hugely challenging for parents to say the least. Just because we've been teens ourselves gives us great insight into the issues. At the same time however it doesn't mean we are fully suited to meet all the challenges it presents. No one has all the answers but we hope this helps make it easier to find the ones you need when it comes to dealing with the common challenges of what teens face and how to best help them through this challenging stage.
